Never Shake A Kid

When my wife was pregnant with #1 we read books, watched videos, and went to classes.  They all talked about something, that at the time, I thought was so weird.  They said to never shake a baby or young kid.  I remember thinking that this was so stupid and silly.  Why would a grown adult who loves their kid ever shake a child or infant?

Stressed to Kill

Those of you raising toddlers…I sympathize with you.  It is not easy.  Although they can walk now, they seem to be more clingy.  Although they are starting to talk, not enough for two-way conversation to happen.  Raising toddlers is truly a “so close but yet so far” reality.  I want to share with my readers something that my wife and I learned from a really cool family when we were in Boston.  If the Beethams ever read this…thanks.

Wife’s Tough Questions

Women are always asking men tough questions that get us into trouble.  Does this dress make me look fat?  Do you think she is pretty?  Why do you love me?  Do you notice anything different?  We as men always fall hook, line, and sinker.  I remember one time my wife asked me, “Will you ever cheat on me?”  WOW!  Talk about tough question.  Below is what went through my mind and the answer I gave…

Private and Public School of Discipline

We have all seen it.  While shopping for our groceries, minding our own business, we see that crazy kid that throws a temper tantrum about something he/she wants but the parent won’t allow.  For single people and couples without kids, you shake your head.  When you are a parent you look at that with compassion and fear.  Fear that one day you will be that parent who has to endure that public shame.
